Friends

What does the word "friends" mean?

There are many types of relationships you can have with someone else.
  • Acquaintances
  • Normal friends
  • Pen-pals
  • Close friends
  • Best friends

Every single person in the world has a friend, even loners. A friend could be any person or anything. It could be someone you know, your pet, even an inanimate object. To me, a friend is a companion. You basically do things together, like hanging out, watching movies, generally just having fun and making memories together: good and bad.

The relationship you have with your friend is very special. It all starts with a meeting and a simple hello. If you like the person or have common interests, the relationship grows from there. To become friends, the relationship must have a key ingredient: you both like each other. If you hate each other, you tend to become enemies, not friends.

People tend to become close friends/best friends after many conversations, and they know things about the other that most people don't. Your friend becomes more of a shoulder to lean on, a comrade who listens, the person you tell your troubles to and stuff like that. You know where each others house is and have been there many times, you have tons of memories from when you both had a lot of fun together, you've gone shopping together, watched movies, slept over, know each others little quirks, etc.

Its hard to describe the relationship one has with another person. You usually just say: "He/She is my friend/close friend/best friend". Trying to describe it in words is like trying to draw air, you can't. Most of the time you don't even remember how the both of you met, you just know you did.

What I'm trying to say is, your friends are something you should cherish forever. Sure, sometimes you guys may have arguments, disagreements, fights, quarrels.... You should never let that come between you, especially if you've been friends for a long time. Don't let your ego/pride/jealousy ruin your friendship with someone, and holding a grudge will just make it worse.

Relationships

There are many different types of relationships:
  • Friends
  • Lovers
  • Short-term
  • Long-term
  • Couple
  • Enemies
  • Married
  • Engaged

Bottomn line is, you could either gain or lose something no matter what your relationship is.

Keeping It Locked Up Inside

I feel like screaming,
But I've tried,
It's not working,
And I might have just died.

I wanna yell,
And curse at the top of my lungs,
But from somewhere I hear a bell,
And it reminds me of a song once sung.

I wanna pound my fists against the wall,
And bang my head until it breaks,
But I know that after it all,
I still won't have what it takes.

I wanna burn down the building,
And the empty land beside,
My house is not a home,
And I feel empty inside.

I wanna go on a killing spree,
And stain my clothes red,
Because I might just fell free,
If I make a few people dead.

But then the bell chimes,
And I'm reminded once again,
That I am still human,
And probably still sane.

I wanna cut loose,
And do what I want,
But I know the moment I do,
I won't survive because I can't.

I want to experience love,
And die in his arms,
But I know it won't be true,
For fickle is the heart.

I know dreams don't always come true,
And disappointment is part of life,
But for once! Just once!
I want it to be you.

You, a hero, my hero,
The one who will come and save me from it all;
The one who can chase away my fears and gives me comfort;
The one who isn't afraid to admit his short-comings: good, bad and all;

But this is not a fairytale,
And happy endings don't exist,
I wish, oh how I wish!
That dreams do come true.

But I hear the bell ring again,
And I'm brought back to reality,
Dreams are meant to be left alone,
For that's what makes them special.

Black

When a person mentions the word "black", what is the 1st thing that pops into your head? The colour? A person's skin tone? Whatever it is, it is usually connected to something or someone.

  • Darkness (like night time)
  • Shadows
  • Goths (or emo people)
  • Clothes and Style ( the whole " *insert colour* is the new black"
  • Formalilty (Black tie events, etc.)
  • Authority and Seriousness (like in Taekwondo and Karate)
  • Funerals (you definitely don't go to a funeral in bright pink, now do you?)
  • An abyss (you can't see anything but black)
  • Music (my fav is MJ's "Black Or White")
  • Philosophy (there is no "black-and-white", just shades of grey
  • Beliefs and Religion
  • And last but not least, a person's race (like in America)

I could go on forever but for right now, I'll focus on why I like black/the darkness that comes with it.

To me, black isn't just a colour, it's also a way of expressing what you feel. When I wear black, (quite often if I might add, since my whole wardrobe is basically black) it gives me a sense of security. You can blend into the background if you knew how to and watch what is happening, kinda like a ninja but I'm not that good, yet. It's pretty handy when you're in an unfamiliar surrounding or hate to be in the spotlight. Sometimes people think I'm emo or a goth just because I love wearing black. Well then, what if you like wearing red and white? Shall I throw a great, white beard on you and call you Santa Claus? Or maybe even stripes? Would you like it if I called you a zebra?

Night time is probably my favourite time of day. When the sun sets, and darkness envelops the earth, it brings with it a sense of calm, of peace. It's that time of the day where some can finally return home and slumber, it is also a time where some people come out to work. It is a time where all nocturnal animals come out to hunt, where their prey must be cautious or else they'll be caught. Furthermore, it is also a time where some people come out to socialise, e.g: going clubbing, having supper, late night dinners with a loved one, etc. We all hav different opinions when it comes to night time, some more alike than others.

For me, the night is probably the only time of day where you can see the most beautiful wonders that are usually missed in the morning. For example, the moon and stars. Have you ever wondered what it's like to be able to float on the moon or wink at a star? Make a wish on a falling star or see a meteor shower? You definitely can't see any of that in the day time, can you? There are also man-made wonders like fireworks, and light shows. Camping by a fire, roasting marshmallows and telling stories. Some things are better done in the dark, since it creates a better atmosphere. Candlelit dinners, moonlight dinners, a walk by the beach, spooking your friends, telling ghost stories, and for the really brave and/or stupid: exploring an old, abandoned house or visiting a cemetery.

Think what you like but in the end, black will always be black. It doesn't matter if you love it or hate it. Because for some people, the colour black will always be like an escape for them. When they put on something in black, it's like they have an alter-ego or something. It gives them a slight confidence boost and even a sense of security. The night time brings with it a sense of serenity and peace, for some it even brings a sense of comfort. Some people are afraid of the dark but I don't know why that is.

Till next time,

Fantasizing Idiot
